HAZARD RISK ASSESSMENT
As part of the 2022 Plan Update process for Somerset County, a Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) has been completed for the County. Risk is defined as "the chance, high or low, that any hazard will occur and the severity or impact from that hazard."
Eleven (11) natural hazards have been identified and a hazard risk has been assigned to each. Natural hazards that have the potential to impact Somerset County are included in the table below. These hazards have been ranked by members of the Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee (HMPC) as follows: High, Medium-High, Medium, or Low. Natural hazards ranked highly include: Flood, Coastal Hazards, and Emerging Infectious Diseases.
